Act,1860. Society Registration.
The Societies Registration Act, 1860 is a legislation in India which allows the registration of entities generally involved in the benefit of society – education, health, employment.
Act,1950. Trust Registration.
1) This Act may be called the Bombay Public Trusts Act, 1950.
2) It shall extend to the whole of the State of Maharashtra.
3) This Act shall come into force at once; but the provisions thereof shall apply to a public trust or any class of public trusts on the date specified in the notification under subsection.

12A registration is a one-time registration which is granted by the
Income Tax Department to trusts and other not for profit organisations. The purpose of the registration is to be exempted from the payment of income tax. The 12A registration facility is available for all non-profit entities. 80G is a certificate that exempts you part or fully from paying taxes, if you have made donations to charitable trusts or section 8 company or organizations that are registered to offer you exemptions from taxes.
Charitable Trusts, Societies, Section 8 Company that receive foreign contribution or donation from foreign sources are required mto obtain registration under Section 6(1) of Foreign Contribution Regulation Act, 2010. Such a registration under the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act, 2010 is called a FCRA registration.

The NGO DARPAN is maintained by NITI Aayog w.e.f. 1st January, 2015. NITI Aayog invites all Voluntary Organizations (VOs) Non- Governmental Organizations (NGOs) to Sign Up on the Portal. The Portal facilitates VOs/NGOs to obtain a system generated Unique ID, as and when signed.
The primary purpose of registering a company as a Section 8 Company is to promote non-profit objectives such as trade, commerce, arts, charity, education, religion, environment protection, social welfare, sports research, etc. To incorporate a Section 8 Company, a minimum of two directors are required.
